“The best is yet to come.” — Shakespeare

Hi, my name is Sophia and I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. I came to the United States, to New York City when I was nine years of age. Everything was a surprise to me, especially food-wise. I tasted my first New York style pizza and ate lasagna and shepherd’s pie. ย Later I discovered the foods of different cultures as well. I ate baked nachos and ceviche and sushi and chicken lo mein. But I’ve stuck to my Russian roots. My dad still made pirogi (meat pies) and pelmeni (meat dumplings) and grechka (Russian oatmeal or buckwheat). As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned to make the recipes as well. I hope that you enjoy what I’ve learned. But I’m still learning! As the blog title suggests, the best is always yet to cook!
